Last updated: 20 November 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Colively (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information
when you use our mobile applications and services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
-
Account information: name, email address, and profile details you provide when creating an account.
-
Authentication and security data: password hashes, session tokens, device information used to keep your account secure.
-
Home and roommate data: home name, shareable code, roommate membership, roles, chores and assignments you create or are assigned to, notes and shared content inside your home.
-
Usage data: app interactions, basic analytics (for example, feature usage, timestamps) to understand how the Service is used and improve it.
-
Files and documents you upload: for example, lease documents, inventory reports, insurance documents, or other PDFs/images you choose to store and share within your home.
-
Push notification tokens: device push tokens to deliver notifications you opt into (for example, chore reminders, payment reminders).
We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data (such as health, religion, etc.)
unless you explicitly put them in documents or free-text fields. Please avoid uploading unnecessary
personal information.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
-
Provide and maintain the Service (account creation, home and roommate management, leases and documents, chores and reminders).
-
Send notifications you request or enable (for example, chore reminders, upcoming tasks, invitations).
-
Improve and personalize the Service (feature development, troubleshooting, analytics and usage understanding).
-
Protect the Service, users, and our rights (security, abuse prevention).
-
Comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR / UK GDPR applies, we process your personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:
-
Performance of a contract: to provide the Service you requested (creating and managing your account, homes, roommates and shared content).
-
Legitimate interests: to secure, operate and improve the Service in ways that do not override your rights and freedoms
(for example, basic analytics, fraud prevention, security monitoring).
-
Consent: for optional features, such as push notifications or certain analytics where required.
You can withdraw your consent at any time in the app settings or device settings.
-
Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law or lawful requests.
4. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with:
-
Service providers: third-party vendors who help us operate the Service
(for example, cloud hosting, storage, email, push notifications, analytics),
under contracts that require them to protect your data and only use it on our instructions.
-
Other members of your home: according to the product’s sharing model. For example,
roommates in the same home can see shared chores, notes, documents, utilities, and other content that is
clearly meant to be shared inside that home.
-
Authorities or third parties: when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights,
safety, or security of users, the public, or Colively.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide and maintain the Service.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
- Resolve disputes.
- Enforce our agreements.
If you delete your account or request deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data unless we are
legally required or allowed to keep it for longer (for example, for tax, accounting, or legal defense).
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse,
and unauthorized access (for example, encryption in transit, access controls, secure development practices).
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access – request a copy of your personal data we hold.
- Rectification – ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

you can withdraw your consent at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@colively.app.
We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. International transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence.
Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect
personal data transferred outside the EEA/UK.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age required by local law to provide consent
(typically 13–16). We do not knowingly collect personal information from such children.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at
privacy@colively.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at

If the changes are material, we may provide additional notice (for example, in-app notice or email).
Your continued use of the Service after the updated policy takes effect means you accept the changes.
